Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
Kangaroos can do some pretty attractive poses, as this creature clearly shows in the above picture.  The Billabong Sanctuary is located just 17 kilometers away from Townsville.  It resembles a zoo more than a sanctuary, but the latter is probably a more politically correct name. In a desperate attempt to convince everyone that I am masculine, here I am with a very dangerous snake around my neck.  A woman from the sanctuary is making a desperate attempt to help me, but I calmly explained to her that I am used to handling snakes.  I have seen snakes many times in my life, especially on TV.

After returning to Cairns from Townsville, Yuka and I decided to go diving and snorkeling.  On a day trip to the Great Barrier Reef, we got to do both. I was not very impressed by the corals we visited on our trip.  The weather had been pretty bad before we visited, thus the water was not very clear.

Here is a picture of Yuka diving.  We have not had the time to take a diving license yet, but we were able to do short dives with guides. Yours truly diving for the first time in his life.  It was a fun experience, though it was not a life changing. I will try to take the diving license soon, then I will probably be able to enjoy it more.

Finally, a picture taken on the boat when returning to Cairns.  We were both pretty tired, but had enjoyed a nice day on the reef. We did not take many pictures of Cairns, but it is a relatively small and charming town.  It seems like half the population consists of Japanese tourists, which is not strange considering the number of direct flights from Tokyo and other Japanese cities.

Finally, here is another sight that you would have seen if you were in Cairns on January 15, 2005.
