Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4
Another picture taken from the boat.  If you ever find yourself on a cruise ship surrounded by hundreds of old people, you will probably soon discover that taking a picture of a flag is one of the most exciting entertainment options available. We were lucky to see the rainbow on a couple of occasions.  Norway is famous for cold weather and rain/snow, but northern Norway is even more extreme in this regard.  A warm sweater is generally the minimum that is required most of the year.

I am not quite sure where I took this picture, but it certainly is an idyllic location.  However, I have heard that the village has very limited options in terms of movie theatres and ethnic restaurants.  It probably is not a place to settle down permanently. We basically climbed up the heap of stones seen the middle of this picture.  The purpose of the trip was to visit a small mountain hut. You probably need to be one of my family members or have a severe brain disorder to understand why anyone would climb up there.

In this picture we are climbing up the heap of stones seen the middle of the last picture. This picture features the lake from which I took the above picture.  Looking at these pictures must seem like using a primitive version of Google Earth.

Northern Norway is stunningly beautiful during summer, but I believe people are insane to live there the rest of the year.  A combination of high suicide rates (due to depression during winter) and cold weather should scare anyone away from moving there. Then again, visiting during summer is highly recommended.  The small mountain that we climbed was only about 700 meters high, but it feels much higher due to the sparse vegetation.
