| While in Okinawa during the weekend of April 11-12, Yuka and I visited the
Forest Adventure Park in Onna, Okinawa. |
Similar parks exist in different parts of Japan, but this one is the only of its kind in Okinawa. |
| I was surprised to learn that 70% of its visitors are Americans. While there are many Americans working on bases in Okinawa, it is hard to understand why the place has yet to be discovered by Japanese locals and tourists. |
The park consists of a variety of zip slides, cargo net ladders, and other obstacles. After a security briefing, you are basically on your own to explore the park. This was very
refreshing as hardly anything can be done in Japan without some form of supervision. |
| Currently there are 9 different zip slides, the longest being a total of 120 meters. |
Going through all the obstacles takes anywhere from 1-2 hours, and once we were done we wanted to start again from the beginning. Unfortunately the park was already closing by that time. |
