Visiting Great Angkor, known as Angkor Thom, and the famous Bayon Monument

I posted some pictures from my May trip to Cambodia. It will take some time to post them all, but I will post them bit by bit as I get time.

Nagoya Grampus Eight

Last weekend I went to see Nagoya Grampus Eight play Yokohama F-Marinos in Yokohama. Nagoya Grampus Eight has a Norwegian player, Frode Johnsen, but they still managed to lose 2-1. We were 6 Norwegians (including 2 kids) that gathered to cheer Nagoya Grampus Eight and Frode Johnsen. While it did not quite work, we had a good time and enjoyed the cold beer.

Yesterday I finished reading Bill Bryson's "Down Under", which has also been published as "In a Sunburned Country". It's a very interesting travel book about Australia, and I wish I had read it prior to spending 1.5 months there. His writing style is very similar to Dave Barry, and I heard about Bill Bryson's Australia book when taking a 4 day tour from Darwin. It seemed like all the members had read the book, and I felt left out not even having heard about the author.

By coincidence, I found the book in a book store at Sydney Airport, which actual full name is Sydney (Kingsford Smith) International Airport. Bill Bryson has some interesting paragraphs on the life of Charles Kingsford Smith, who apparently was the first person to make a Trans-Pacific flight to Australia. The aviator pioneered more long distance routes than any pilot in history, and Bill Bryson rightly questions why he is not more known. If he were American, a big movie would certainly have been made by now.
