The weekend before Christmas, Yuka and I stayed at the Hilton Hotel in Shinjuku, Tokyo. We were quick to note that the hotel is somewhat run down, and the hotel pales in comparison with other Tokyo luxury hotel competitors as the Westin in Ebisu. Our main complaint was that we were told breakfast was available until 11 or so in the morning. However, the hotel neglected to let us know that the buffet finishes much earlier than that, even though we called the reception to confirm the breakfast hours. The main reason for staying at the Hilton is to enjoy their great breakfasts, but they screwed it up for us this time around.
My worst Hilton experience, however, was my stay at the Hilton in Guam. I have covered that separately in an earlier blog entry.
I will spend Christmas and New Years in Norway, Barcelona, and London. Therefore, I will not return to Japan before early next year. In the meantime, I hope to finish reading a few books. I just finished reading the "Tipping Point", which was a more enjoyable read than Malcolm Gladwell's follow-up "Blink". I guess everyone I know has already read the "Tipping Point", so it was about time I got around to it.
