This is just a short review I wrote about the Boracay Regency Beach Resort for the people at Tripadvisor. I sometimes post my hotel reviews there to ensure that they are read by people to whom the reviews are potentially relevant:

We checked out today after staying at the Boracay Regency for two nights. Actually we moved to the Boracay Regency after staying one night at the horrible Boracay Hills, which we decided to leave two days earlier than planned.

Because our booking had been made the previous evening through Agoda, the Boracay Regency had yet to receive our information when we arrived to check in. A confused lady in the reception made me wait for approximately 10 minutes before she finally said that I would have to print out the confirmation voucher we received from Agoda. While the reception lady directed me to the business center to print out the voucher, I was charged for both the internet and the printing although I explained the situation in the business center. When I have had to print a voucher at other hotels in the past, the fee has always been waived, but on the other hand everything in the Philippines is cheap and usually not worth arguing about.

On checking out of the hotel, the reception spent a good 15 minutes to get my bill ready. This should be unnecessary, in particular as I gave them a 12 hour notice about my check-out time (so that the hotel could provide transportation to the airport). They also asked me to wait while they had someone check that I had not taken anything from the minibar! Perhaps the hotel mistook me for a criminal and decided to be extra careful.

However, except from the incompetent staff in the reception, this is a wonderful resort. It has several hundred rooms in addition to a number of pools and restaurants. The amnesties in our deluxe room were what you would expect from a four star hotel, though nothing more.

I would not hesitate to stay at this resort again in the future, but I would probably try to look around to see what other alternatives are available. For example, the Zuzuni Boutique Hotel (only four rooms!) looks like an interesting alternative to staying at a gigantic impersonal resort like the Boracay Regency.
