Hamas Supporters Gilbert & Fosse
Mads Gilbert and Erik Fosse, two Norwegian clowns and Hamas supporters, have requested that the Norwegian Medical Association sends representatives to meet with Hamas in Gaza.
Talk about having your priorities messed up. It has previously been discussed whether Mr. Foose and Mr. Gilbert are breaking the Hippocratic Oath with their political involvement. Now they want the Norwegian Medical Association to meet with a terrorist organization?
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, thousands of civilians have been killed without anyone paying attention. Earlier today, the United Nations reported that 100 bodies have been discovered in north-eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Aren't the innocent victims more deserving of sympathy and help than Hamas?
Similarly, a human disaster looms in Sri Lanka as a quarter of a million people are trapped inside a war zone. While the Tamil Tigers is an horrible organization, compared to Hamas they behave like a peace group. As I have mentioned previously, the Sri Lanka conflict is completely ignored in the West.
Rather than focusing on the hundreds of deaths in Africa and Sri Lanka, Norway's largest tabloid newspaper today features a long article on people "risking their lives" smuggling weapons and other products through tunnels into the Gaza strip. VG is also reporting that Hamas yet again has started firing rockets into Israel, which means that Israel probably has more tunnels to bomb.

Not to be horribly punnish, but it all boils down to the oil, natural gas pipelines, etc. A majority of oil-producing states are anti-semitic and/or anti-Israel...or they have a very long history of being so. Hence the obsession by the "civilized world" (which countries consume the most petrol) with Israel. If they don't jump on the bandwagon, they might find OPEC not as...helpful. Or nice.
Though you could also make the historical argument that European countries, in particular, want to get rid of any sense of inherited guilt - demonizing Israel (not all of whose citizens are descendants of Holocaust survivors) is a quick and easy method of making the historical scales seem more..balanced.
Or there could just be the fact that trained Jewish soldiers freaks people out. Jews, who, in the past, were routinely massacred by..hm...ancestral Europeans.
Lots of potential reasons. But oil seems the most logical.
