Dagbladet Accuses The Jerusalem Post Of Mockery
Update 1: According to Dagbladet, the Jerusalem Post (JPost) article has now been republished. The title of Dagbladet's article is "Israeli newspaper continuing its mockery of Norway", which obviously does not give justice to the content of the JPost article. Dagbladet is not able to find any factual errors in the JPost, so instead they simply accuse the JP of mockery.
Clarification: I am focusing on the revised article in the JPost (also removed), which apparently had amended the paragraph that could be misinterpreted as stating that Kristin Halvorsen shouted anti-Semitic slogans. Such an interpretation would obviously be incorrect, and I am therefore glad the JPost revised the paragraph. However, this was just a short paragraph in a very long article, and does not warrant the current outrage.

Why would the JPost remove their article, edit it and repost it. And then again remove it? One of the so-called sources for this article is Imre Hercz, and he has clearly shown how unhappy he is, and how terribly he was misquoted.
And about the peace-demonstration, there were no anti-Jewish slogans during the event what so ever.

The article presents the fact that Norway and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre spoke out against civilian children in Palestine being hurt as a bad thing. Enough said.
Dagbladet were "not able to find any factual errors in the JPost" because the article is composed of hear-say from "jewish leaders" in Norway. But Imre Hercz has come out and said that he strongly opposes the views presented in the article. Also, the JPost originally claimed that Kristin Halvorsen shouted "death to the jews" - if this is not a factual error then I don't know what is.
The fact that the JPost have now removed the article for a second time should tell you everything you need to know about it. It is horrendous journalism combined with an intent to slander Norway's reputation in Israel and abroad, in the same manner that Manfred Gerstenfeldt has done in recent years.
Educate yourself.

Um... one of the sources denying having said anything of the sort might be indicative of a factual error or two? As well as all the parties actually present and involved in the incidents concerned denying the descriptions of the JPost? As a Norwegian familiar with the current political climate, and present at the demonstrations in question, I can add my voice to those that say the claims of the Jerusalem Post - both pre and post editing - are lies.
BTW, "Hets" is a verb version of a word equivalent to the english term "hate". A more accurate translation would be "stirring up hate against Norway".

Where in the JPost article is Imre Hercz quoted? I can not see his name among those quoted in the article (though I saw the article in Dagbladet about Imre Hercz claiming to be misquoted) .
Also, I do not think the Norwegian "hetsing" is equivalent to the English word "hatred". Mockery is perhaps not a perfect translation, but I believe it is better than using "hatred".

'Smear campaign' is a better translation, I reckon. However, criticism against Israel seems to be interpreted as antisemitism, no matter what.
Taking part in a rally against the situation in Gaza, does not mean that the part-takers hate Jews. It means they are concerned with how the conflict is affecting civilians.
The world is not either/or, black and white, etc.. Simply disagreeing with Israels actions in said conflict, does not make you antisemitic.

For 60 of my 69 years on this planet the Arabs and Jews have been getting on each others nerves, not withstanding ancient history, but since the establishment of The-State-of-Israel in 1948. Both have contributed to the cycle of violence, especially since the 1967 war. Whenever the parties begin to come close to some form of resolution, another event triggers new rounds of hostilities and deaths, such as: new elections (here we go again), sending rockets or suicide bombers, building upon territories occupied over forty years ago, the death or killing of leaders (terrorist or otherwise) resulting in regime change, etc..
What Israel needs to do is give back the occupied lands and reestablish the original borders, together with a timetable to remove the barriers. Palestine, Arabs and Persians alike must stop the terror and recognize the fact that Israel is sanctioned to exist. The-State-of-Palestine must be established, and Jerusalem declared as the Capitol of both Israel and Palestine. No, I'm not crazy! They both want Jerusalem, so let them have it, but with the caveat (by UN, USA, EC, NATO, and religions and their respective organizations), that only so long as they conduct themselves as the honorable, joint caretakers of the Holy Land. Abuse the privilege and one, the other or both lose all rights to Jerusalem.
Four (4) steps to hopefully a lasting peace. Land area in the occupied countries of WW II were not confiscated and then kept by allied citizens, Israel! There is enough blame to go all around, including the taking of sides by arrogant, brainwashed, ideological, know-it-all, mouthy socialists like Kristin Halvorsen - who ought to concentrate what little brain she has on the economic situation in Norway, instead of drawing ill will toward our country with her skewed viewpoints. Socialists: first to proclaim their opinion is the only valid opinion, first to organize demonstrative protests, first to cast available missiles at law enforcement officers responsible for maintaining law and order. Halvorsen and company, shut-the-hell-up!

Now, it's been awhile since I've been to Norway, but as an avid reader of various international newspapers, with family and friends in Norway, as well as some Jewish ones, I can't believe that JPost presists in posting that article. I've always been amazed how open Norway remains with the current international political climates. Isn't there an old joke about one of the previous Norwegian Prime Ministers writing to some dictator saying how "dissapointed" he is? Norway gets to be one of the calmest countries at the moment...
Maybe it is a Swedish ploy to discredit? :p

Definition of the Norwegian word hetsing: Evil-minded and non-objective agitation.
There are many Norwegians that are pretty embarrassed having a minister of finance like Ms Halvorsen. It may be taking it a bit to far to accuse her of "hetsing" towards Jews. However she is known to be very one-track minded and a true supporter of the so-called Palestinians. She has also given her full support to the boycott of merchandise from Israel.
There have always been, and will always be, a strong support for Israel in the Norwegian population. However, the fast growing Muslim population (due to our naive immigrational laws and practice), does represent a threat to Jews in Norway. I'm under no illusion, and would be seriously concerned about my future safety if I was of Jewish origin.

The original article in the JPost consisted of approximately 20 paragraphs. Only a single sentence in the article was disputed by Dagbladet.
The rest of the article provides comments by Kygell Nyhuss (secretary of the Norwegian Press Professional Association), Manfred Gerstenfeld (chairman of the Jerusalem Center of Public Affairs), and Yoav Melchior (Norwegian rabbi). In addition, the article refers to a report NGO Monitor commenting on Norwegian support provided to Palestinian organizations with clear anti-Israeli agendas.
All the outrage in Norway was caused by a single poorly written sentence in one paragraph of the article. Anyone wanting to criticize the JPost should read the entire article before raising their opinion.

It's hard reading an article when it's been removed from the site. Kind of makes you wonder if there was any other reason, apart from a "single poorly written sentence".
Mind you, the updated version of the article - where mentioned sentence had been "corrected", was also removed. Strange..

The original article (not the revised version) is still widely available. For example, it is still published on the Turkish Weekly website:
