Tokyo Disney Sea!
- Chiba Prefecture (December 15, 2002)

This is me at Disney Sea, and I am making a really funny face.  Interestingly enough, that is one of the few things you would not have to wait three hours in line for to see at Disney Sea. Disney Sea opened in 2001, and Japanese people are still streaming to see it.  On the day I visited, there were probably more Japanese people inside the park than outside it.

Disney Sea has lots of cheesy European buildings, evidently free from graffiti and prostitutes in the windows.  A bit disappointing, however, is that the Arabian town replica did not feature Muslim women in traditional Star Wars costumes. I was actually a bit impressed by the gigantic volcano constructed within the park, and it actually "erupts" at night.  The two gazillion Japanese people in the park probably enjoyed it just as much.

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!  Disney Sea certainly gets you in the Christmas mood, but religious carols and symbols are absent.  The important idea appears to be 100% politically correct.  If Disney were to do Ramadan, it would be without the fasting. Finally, the night ends with some relatively spectacular fireworks, directed by Fantasia's Mickey Mouse.

Another picture from the fireworks display. That was the end, and another day was over at Disney Sea.  At 10 PM, 120 million Japanese left the park to go home, as usual packed on trains that would leave them to even more cramped apartments.
